Documenting the journey of a Cameroonian filmmaker
Last night, I had the esteemed pleasure of watching a living Legend; a man who needs no introduction in the Music Industry.
A man whose music was sampled by icons like Michael Jackson and whose music continues to be sampled today.
Last night, I had the pleasure of watching Cameroonian saxophonist Manu Dibango in concert. Can I just say, AWESOME!!!
The concert was in honour of the legend’s 80th birthday and was hosted at The Barbican Center in London last night. I was so proud to see a huge turnout by Cameroonians- both young and old, who came to support their own.
Grand Manu had us on our feet for 2 hours; dancing to Soul Makossa and remembering how rich our Cameroonian heritage is while acknowledging his contribution to Jazz music. He’s brilliant!
He made us proud!
Grand Manu, we salute you sir! Happy birthday!
