Documenting the journey of a Cameroonian filmmaker
I believe the statement “showers of blessings or £$CFA#” etc are apt in this case.
Cameroonian football icon Samuel Eto’o Fils has reportedly broken a new world record as the highest paid footballer in history. According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal was signed between Italy’s InterMilan and Russia’s Anzhi Makhachkala after days of negotiation.Anzhi will pay a transfer fee of $38.9 million to InterMilan, that’s exclusive of Eto’o’s fee.
Samuel Eto’o will reportedly receive $28.8 million per football season over a three-year period. Somebody please tell me how much that is per day. Anzhi Makhachkala FC is owned by Russian oil billionnaire Suleiman Kerimov who is estimated by Forbes to be worth $7.8 billion, ranking 118th World’s richest man.
I take it gone are the days of pictures like this;
Goodness gracious! Wekeh! A zambe wam! Dieu est tellement grand mon frere. Where’s my son… time to hit the football field boy. Suit up! You know that Eto’o is that my friend who lives in Douala’s neigbour’s brother’s best friend’s brother na. Eh Dieu, ma vie va changer! Honestly I am indeed happy for him and will be even happier when I see some of that money trickle down in the form of investments to Cameroon. Afterall those skills were developed on Cameroonian soil, weren’t they?
WHAT’S YOUR TAKE?
